On this page I will have a summary of all purchases listed, that are associated with the project, and provide it with background information. Unless it is approved, I will make the links available to the companies where I shopped.
The site
The site is approximately 8 acres and consists of 2/3 of mixed forest and 1/3 of pond. In turn, there are numerous species of soft and hard woods in the mixed forest. Though the majority of them is cedar, followed by white pine.
The property is supplied with electricity and equipped with a 138 ft deep drilled well, which delivers 12 gal/min of fresh water with drinking quality.
(At least) A manual
There are many manuals, in which is described how to build log cabins. But, there are also many different ways to build, which concerns the way the stratification of the logs. I decided to use the "scribe fit" a.k.a. "Skandinavian" method.
Here, the respective upper circular base is matched exactly to the contour of the underlying log. The man, who writes by far the best guide in this case, is:
Robert. W. Chambers. On his website, I have not only bought the manual, but also the DVD. Highly recommended!
